Esther Huffman developed a passion for historical costume and opulent textiles while living in Europe. Upon graduation from the College of William and Mary she pursued her love of fashion for a decade in New York City. Founding her design label in the 1990's, Esther presented seasonal collections of evening gowns and special occasion suits that were sold in a cache of upscale boutiques. Ms. Huffman's clientele appreciate her exquisite fabrics that she ferrets out each season from European weavers; showcasing the finest of French lace, Italian craftsmanship, English silk brocade, and innovative Irish woolens. Continuing to create unique couture pieces for individual clients even after she relocated to Washington DC, Esther took a hiatus from seasonal collections in order to start a family. Esther Huffman's collection utilizes all-natural, 100% silk fabrics, ornamented with laces from Calais, Caudry and Milan. All construction on her garments is performed by local master dressmakers, some of whom she has flown across the world to fit clients in exotic locations. Ms. Huffman's work exhibits her dedication to her art, and refusal to sacrifice quality and local craftsmanship for mass production. Whether a garment is highly ornamented or sleekly modern, Esther Huffman designs to flatter the beauty found in each unique woman.
